So, once again I find myself drawn into the universe that is EvE’s New Eden. There is just something about this game that keeps me coming back. Though usually I end up getting my hopes up that I will actually have some of my real life friends play alongside me and that is really the reason I stop playing. This time I am going to just find a corp. that will recruit me and see where I can go from there. The big thing I have to do right now is decide what type of corp. I want to join.
I could always stick with my current choice in occupation in EvE which is that of an industrialist (mining, refining, and eventually production.) I have always liked the industry part of EvE and it works well as I can do some multitasking with that… While I mine I can be studying, writing, doing research or something like that. But on the other hand it can get tiresome putting such a big focus on mining.
Alternatively I could work on getting my character combat ready. I already have a lot of the leadership skills for boosting a fleet even in combat but would have to work on the ships that I can fly and weapons I can use. Starting out with running missions to get used to the combat again and eventually work my way to low and null sec PVP. Going through this I would eventually be able to work my way to a combat leadership position which I would really like to be able to do. I do like combat when it is organized and the strategy that comes before and during the combat.
Really either of these paths would also lead me to being able to get higher up in a corp. eventually with the industrial end I would be looking at running mining runs and helping do decide what the corps. focus is. This would also lend to working with diplomacy among other industrial corps. and military corps to help work together to become more profitable or to help defend our industrial runs in lower security space.
With the combative focused path I would be looking at eventually becoming a tactician and diplomat for whatever corp. I join if they feel that they can make use of my skills. This would allow for much more volatile diplomatic relations and damage control. It would also mean working on bringing an alliance to a prestige that other corps. will envy. Helping to create a mighty empire that, if run properly, may be able to stand the tests of New Eden.
With either path it will be about finding my place in this universe and making my mark on the sandbox of Eden. Shaping it around me and helping to create the world that we ‘play; in. I think that is really what attracts me to EvE… The idea that no matter what you do, big or small, you are changing the game for someone else. Whether this be good or bad for them, big or small, you are making a difference. How you change the Universe just depends on what you are interested in and how much you are willing to invest into it. 10 years of this sandbox being formed and it could change drastically in just a few days because everyone playing has some kind of ambition and that ambition effects everyone else playing.

Tonight is the series premier of my friend Devin Clark’s series “Ugly Americans” on Comedy Central. Before his show goes on to be a huge hit, let’s take a look at this old episode of the Meth Minute 39. I recorded Devin pretending to be Mike Tyson and the result made me collapse on the floor of the sound studio in hysterics.
